The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has alerted users that the country’s airspace is open to flight operations even in the face of the Nigerian Labour Congress’s (NLC) ongoing strike action to press home for higher minimum wage for workers.
Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of NAMA, Abdullahi Musa in a statement said the ongoing strike has not in any way affected the operations of the agency.
He disclosed that contingency arrangements had been put in place for the processing of flight operations in the five major airports in Nigeria which include Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Enugu.
This is so according to him as a way of keeping with the agency’s mandate to provide uninterrupted, safe, efficient, and economic air navigation services in the country.
According to him, “The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) hereby assures the general public and airline operators that the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has not in any way affected the operations of the agency as contingency arrangements have been put in place for the processing of flight operations in the five major airports in Nigeria which include Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Enugu.
“The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) will continue to provide its services to airline operators despite the ongoing strike action, in keeping with the agency’s mandate to provide uninterrupted, safe, efficient, and economic air navigation services in the country.
